Creative Update
Hey, everybody! Long time, no post. Sorry about that, but I’ve been SUPER busy. What have I been up to?
1) Around the time of the last post, I finished my novel: The Grass Haired Girl – a modern YA fantasy, set in the rural Midwest US, that kicks off my “Griefborn Cycle” series. Tagline: “An ordinary boy desperate to be a fantasy hero. An extraordinary girl desperate to be anything else.”
2) From October to about January, the novel went through beta-reading and many edits while I worked on various cover-art ideas. Important tip that I knew but chose to ignore: The longest distance between two points is a shortcut. After struggling for about a month to do easy, lazy cover ideas, I finally buckled down to actually, you know, be an artist and actually draw a cover image. Yeah. It turned out MUCH better. Right Effort, right? Even though it seems like it might take longer to do the job right, you end up saving yourself time and energy if you just do it the right way from the start. Anyway, there’s a peek —>
3) Now I’m waiting for the US Copyright Office to get back to me with my copyright certification so I can get the thing up and ready for sale. Ugh. Beauracracy. Maybe sometime in March.
4) In the meanwhile, I’m working on the Ryu-Ki System 2nd Edition (RKS2E), which hopefully will be more streamlined and easier to play than the first edition with more of a focus on cinematics and heroics instead of numbers and simulation. I’m also plotting out the second Griefborn book, and getting ready to (finally) start working on the Midnight Eden authortube video series.
Thanks for reading!
The new cover looks AWESOME! Can’t wait for The Grass-Haired Girl to come out!
Thank you! Once it gets a little closer to publishing, I’ll post some more about it along with the complete cover (front, spine, and back).
